The feathered and dramatic ballet show “Swan Lake by International Ballet Stars” is taking the spotlight in the Murat Theatre, Indianapolis, on November 11th.
The talented ballet dancers bring to life Tchaikovsky’s legendary score, with incredible choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. Swan Lake is not a regular love story – it is just as much about devoting one’s heart, as it is about magic, victory, good and evil. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is also known for his other notable scores, The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty.

On November 11th, International Ballet Stars will be performing the iconic score by Tchaikovsky, choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.
Swan Lake, as performed by the International Ballet Stars, is a tragic and darl love story of Prince Siegfried and Princess Odette. Princess Odette is cursed by an evil sorcerer to be a swan for eternity. The curse will only be broken by a man who sincerely gives his heart and love to no one else but Odette. Prince Siegfried promises his eternal loyalty and love to Odette, but the evil sorcerer tricks Siegfried. A black swan trickster emerges to overthrow the princes’ loyalty and love for Odette. Will he, and Odette, break the curse? What would become of the black swan?
The original ballet’s score was written by the Russian specialist music master, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who later composed two world famous scores, The Sleeping Beauty (1889) and The Nutcracker (1892). In 1875, Tchaikovsky was commissioned by Vladimir Petrovich Begichev, director of the Moscow Imperial Theatres. The ballet itself was choreographed by the Czech icon Julius Reisinger, however, the ballet's first performance at the Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre in 1877 was choreographed by Julius Wenzel Reisnsinger. In 1880, Belgian choreographer Joseph Pater Hansen revived the ballet with his version.
Tchaikovsky’s score as we know today is the revised and edited version of the original, achieved by Riccardo Drigo.
