“There’s something infectious about dance music and the way it allows people to escape from the world and find themselves at the same time. I’m excited to share this show we've created with audiences in London, from the generations who were there with me in the 70s, to younger ages who just know me from the hits on the radio, in the movies or on TV shows. Everyone can connect to the music. We just wanted to bring that nostalgia to the stage, and I wanted to show people a little bit more about who I am." - Harry Wayne Casey a.k.a KC
Look back to those disco parties that you remember, or even the ones that seem like a blur... chances are, the music playing as you danced that night still echoes in your memory long after the years have faded. That "sunshine" sound of KC and The Sunshine Band is an eternal glow that keeps people dancing since the 70s disco era, a non-stop dance party, segueing from one generation to the next. Harry Wayne Casey is touted as the "Founder of Dance Revolution", and front frontman founder of KC and The Sunshine Band
"I remember that I always wanted to do something that would make people forget about their problems and be happy,” recalls KC. “I always loved music and I was fortunate enough to grow up in a multi-ethnic area that exposed me to a lot of different cultures and music...from Pop to Reggae to Latin. I experimented at trying to put all three types of music together and the Sunshine Sound was born. Why move from an area that not only do I love, but owe so much to?"
KC and The Sunshine Band broke out into the global music scene with their eponymous sophomore album 'KC and The Sunshine Band', in 1975, as it merited a triple platinum certification, attributable to the colossal number one hits like GET DOWN TONIGHT, THAT’S THE WAY (I LIKE IT), BOOGIE SHOES, and ROCK YOUR BABY. Their sunny streak kept going as they churned out hits that kept fans disco-dancing with hits like I’M YOUR BOOGIE MAN, SHAKE YOUR BOOTY, and KEEP IT COMIN’ LOVE, along with BOOGIE SHOES, which was included on the SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER soundtrack, PLEASE DON’T GO, and YES, I’M READY. To top it all, KC and The Sunshine Band took home prestigious awards like Grammy Awards, People's Choice Awards, and American Music Awards.
It's now 2026, KC and The Sunshine Band are still at the top of their game, and audiences still dance in unison and say that's the way uh-huh-uh-huh I like it!
