Our Minds Have Been Expanded! Let’s Do This Time Warp one more time! Because The Rocky Horror Picture Show is turning fifty this October (yes… we are indeed that old folks), and as we reminisce about the good ole’ days of the film and how much laughter and jump scares it’s brought us over the years - we’ll have a few more laughs right here at The Murat Theatre when they bring their musical performance to the stage!

It’s not easy having a good time… but it absolutely is right here at Murat Theatre! Especially when The Rocky Horror Picture crew is taking the stage. On Saturday October 4th, the movie will take an eclectic performance to our central Indianapolis stage - including a showing of the movie that will also include live actors performing in sync with the film, making a classic movie a live immersive experience for all of us to enjoy as we celebrate fifty years of the classic. The Rocky Horror Picture Show 50th Anniversary Spectacular will be right here at the Murat Theatre on October 4th - and also hit stops at theatres all across the country. Including shows in Austin, Lake Tahoe, Agore Theatre in Cleveland, the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, Disney Theatre in Orlando, Four Winds Casino in Michigan, and of course - right here in Indy on October 4th.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of the most iconic and recognizable titles for all the October and Halloween lovers out there who love its classic mixture of horror and humour all in one nostalgia fueled film. Debuting in 1975 and brought to the big picture by 20th Century Fox, the movie tells about the story of a recently engaged couple who, on the way to celebrate their engagement with old friends, find that their car breaks down and find refuge in a retro and unsuspecting castle close to where the tire catches a flat. They end up staying the night at the castle as the chaotic yet helpful staff offers to give them a helping hand, and… well, we won’t give away all the surprises and spoilers of the film! But just know that the ending is so worth it for all of you who haven’t seen it before.
The movie has been critically acclaimed and celebrated a countless amount of times over its lifespan. The movie undoubtedly has a cult following from the entire art house community, particularly for its attention to LGBTQ narratives and the cultural impact it had during the later half of the 1900s. The film has made close to a billion worldwide, and is one of the most re-interpreted movies in tv shows and performances to this day - including here at The Murat this October when we bring its live performance right here.
