Hairspray is about a young lady who went against all odds to pursue her dreams. This is the story of young Tracy Turnblad, a high school student in Baltimore. Apart from her love for dancing, she also adores the TV program called the Corny Collins show. Whenever the show is on, Tracy and her friend Penny always rush home to watch. One day, one of the show’s council members took a leave of absence for “nine months.” Hence, the show will be holding auditions to find a replacement. Tracy and Penny become ecstatic. However, their mothers did not have pleasant reactions. Tracy’s mom is worried her daughter will be teased for her heavy weight, while Penny’s mom is also against her daughter auditioning.
